MIGRANTS

Re-locating from one culture to another is a major undertaking, and something that increases the stress and degree of difficulty for the job seeker. Often compounding this is the need to come to terms with a new language, a different workplace environment with different systems and processes. Yet employers still expect new employees to be immediately productive.

It can be hard, too, to compare qualifications between countries as there are major differences in how people are trained. Often – in Australia – the fully accredited professional from another country may need to return to studies to supplement overseas qualifications in order to obtain full recognition here.

While migration means new people, a new language, new cultures, habits, customs and new challenges, it can also become a rich life-experience as well. Someone has said you cannot change the world, but the world will change you. And while employers look for people who can integrate easily, migrating often means initially doing work you might not have previously considered.

At CGH we know that social isolation can occur to some degree until the newly arrived individual can adequately speak, read, write, and understand English. Once this is achieved, you are in a superior position to effectively handle the unique aspects of job search in Australia, including how to perform well at interviews and understand the different job application procedures.

CGH can provide you the right advice for your circumstances, as well as the training and materials needed to make you as competitive as you can be. You will present to prospective employers in a much more informed and confident way when you are handling each step of the process fully equipped.
