The details below are a checklist of frequently asked questions concerning CGH Career Management services and processes. It may stimulate you to thinking about other issues. If so, your CGH coach will answer these for you.
What is Career Management Coaching?
Career Management Coaching is professional assistance through the provision of physical, mental and directional tools to enable you to move ahead quickly and confidently in your career transition.
Do you help me find a job?
We may do this indirectly by providing contacts or leads but generally we work with you as a two-person team; you are the captain, we are the coach. You spend time on the playing field (the market place) and come off after each quarter for us to discuss performance, tactics and strategies.
Are you a recruiting agency?
No. We are specifically career management consultants. We do, however, through our alliance partners, have access to a significant number of recruiting firms, which serves to keep us on the cutting edge of what is relevant in recruitment. We believe it’s a major disadvantage not to be closely linked to the people that make the job offers.
What are your policies regarding confidentiality and privacy?
CGH Career Management has rigorous systems and processes in place to ensure the privacy of your information. Our Privacy Statement may be viewed by clicking here.
How is CGH Career Management different from other career management companies?
- As mentioned above, we retain close links with recruiting firms for the reasons outlined.
- We do not request you fill in forms or sign contracts.
- We use a ‘pay-as-you-go’ method so that you are free to withdraw at any time and there are no further fees payable.
- Materials and processes have been developed in Australia and tested and refined over more than ten years and with hundreds of candidates in all states.
- We refuse to ‘pad out’ either the materials or the sessions.
- Our rates are – at least – highly competitive.
What if I’m sick or go on leave during the program?
Everything just goes on hold until you’re ready to re-commence. Your absence from the program can be up to 12 months.
Can another family member use my material?
You can’t copy the material as it’s copyrighted. But just as your learning to drive doesn’t qualify you as a driving instructor, the same applies. Ultimately, it’s the actual coaching sessions in conjunction with the material that produces the results.
Do you work with students or just businesspeople?
Students are one of the eight key categories we assist. These categories are:
- Students making the transition from education to the workplace
- The employee wanting to move to a better career situation
- The retrenched employee
- The person transitioning from home duties to the workplace
- The self-employed person moving back to the workplace
- The person returning from interstate or overseas
- The migrant, new to Australia and wanting to enter the workplace
- The mature age person wanting to examine alternative career opportunities
I’m not happy with my current job or the work I do. Can you help me?
Yes – without hesitation! No one needs to be unhappy in their employment. For a start, you won’t be nearly as productive or fulfilled if this is the case. We have sound processes to re-define your preferences and to successfully transition to where you’re best suited.
Will I be doing homework?
There will be some career planning exercises to complete as well as private study of the module material (there are seven modules available), especially in the commencement stages. Beyond that, it is recording your experiences and staying fresh with the different aspects of your career changing activity.
Is there a way I can move from my current job without putting it at risk?
If you adhere professionally to the guidelines given by your CGH consultant, you will eliminate the risk to the point where you can relax – but it will be over to you to follow everything through. |
